Michigan Walleye Tour (MWT)

The Michigan Walleye Tour (MWT) stands as one of Michigan’s premier competitive walleye fishing circuits, offering a professional-level platform for anglers while making a lasting impact on local communities and conservation efforts. Founded in 1995, the MWT has spent nearly three decades fostering growth within the walleye fishing community, supporting education, and promoting stewardship of Michigan’s abundant natural resources.

Operated in partnership with the Saginaw Bay Walleye Club, the MWT serves as the primary financial supporter for a range of youth fishing programs and academic scholarships across the state. Through its charitable contributions, the MWT enables students pursuing careers in natural resources and law enforcement to receive vital scholarships, helping to secure the future of Michigan’s fisheries and environmental stewardship.

The Michigan Walleye Tour’s mission extends beyond the tournament stage. Together with the Saginaw Bay Walleye Club, MWT is committed to promoting walleye fishing, education, and conservation throughout Michigan. Their efforts have contributed to significant growth within the fishing community while simultaneously giving back to the regions that host their events.

MWT tournaments attract top-level competition, offering anglers an exciting opportunity to test their skills across Michigan’s premier walleye fisheries. Featured locations include the Detroit River, Lake Erie, Oscoda, and Sault Ste. Marie, each presenting its own unique challenges and opportunities. The tour’s format and operations are designed to ensure a fair, competitive, and conservation-minded experience for all participants.

Supported by an impressive roster of sponsors including Skeeter Boats, Yamaha Motor Corporation, Fox River Rods, VMAX Batteries, and Superior Fishing Products, the MWT is able to offer attractive prize packages while maintaining a professional and accessible tournament atmosphere. Their tournaments, television coverage, and community engagement efforts make MWT a cornerstone of Michigan’s vibrant fishing culture.

Through decades of dedication to competition, conservation, and community, the Michigan Walleye Tour has established itself as a leader in the world of walleye fishing. Whether you’re an aspiring tournament angler, a seasoned pro, or a conservation-minded community member, the MWT offers an opportunity to be part of a tradition where fishing excellence and public service go hand in hand.
